*Update* DMC: Cards

I'm back with a DMC update post. I hope everyone is ok and enjoyingwhatever it is you are doing ingame.

The last few posts regarding this subject were a few weeks ago. Unfortunately on my server the cards have dropped in price to way lower than I predicted. The only card holding its own is Tsunami which is around 25,000g - 30,000g on my server. The rest are:
These prices are extremely low and this means my investment to make 7 decks as seen in the posts:
I have managed to move on 3 decks up to now. 2 x Volcano @ 18,000g and 16,000g and 1 x Hurricane @ 16,000g putting me around 10,000g in profit taking into the acount the extra card sales.

The remaining decks are:
I still believe that the sales of the cards will make me double money but for the time invested its a borderline worthwhile project.

I will keep you guys updated over the next week before the Faire rolls into town and buggers up the prices altogether.

Nothing to Report

I have not posted the last few days due to multiple things. The main one being a total lack of topics to post on. The topics we post as Gold Bloggers have nearly always already been posted elsewhere. Trying to find new things to write about is like trying to find where those French people hid the Grail.

Your Mother Was a Hamster and Your Father Smelt of Elderberries!

I will post again but only when I find it to be relevant, so no more crappy posting just for the sake of posting, that was not my plan when I started this blog and I seem to have slipped into the posting everyday scenario.

If I have some tips on making gold or updates on my topics/projects I will post and it will be helpful and not some drivel as I have written the last few weeks.

Lets rejoice and eat Sir Robin's minstrals.......

Plans: Sulfuron Hammer and 6,000g

I have been quite succesful selling one pattern of late. This pattern is:

Smudger's sales over the Weekend

If you read me often you will know that I have not posted much this weekend due to real life commitments interferring with my World of Warcraft play time. This did not stop me from making around 13k in sales over the weekend. Again not bad for roughly 1 or 2 hours playtime over the last few days.

3 birds with 1 stone

I wanted to try to get one of the new Jewelcrafting patterns. Unfortnately for me they are a world drop from Cataclysm mobs.

My original idea was to level my mage up from 81 and hope that a pattern dropped along the way. I levelled upto 83 with no luck and thought I would try something else.

Sales from 4.0.6 or Patch Day

I have not had a great deal of time to do anything over the last few days so I was interested how much I could make out of the Inferno Ruby market after the updated Meta Gems for 4.0.6.

What 3 Pieces Of Advice Would You Give A Little Goblin? (3 Top Tips For New Auctioneers?)

This is my entry for "Cold's Gold Blogging Carnival" on the subject of advice for new players or "Goblins" wanting to start on the Auction House.

I am going to write this with the assumption that the said player is already at top level.

The Waiting Game

For my Inscription and the 30k gamble and DMC: Gamble update it looks like I may have to wait a week or so before seeing any sales back.

Enchanting change that may have been overlooked

  • Three new bracer enchants are available. They increase Agility by 50, Strength by 50, or Intellect by 50 respectively. Item level 300 or higher required. These new recipes are rare world drops.
  • Enchant Off-Handed - Superior Intellect now increases Intellect by 40, down from 100.
These are going to be in high demand and maybe got overlooked with the changes to Jewelcrafting. If you get one of these patterns on from the Auction House or from a world drop on day one of the patch then it could be worth quite a bit of gold. Firstly to sell the pattern and secondly to make/sell the enchants.

Elementium hot spot and combo farming

Another quick post for you peeps who love farming. If you quest alot, especially in Twilight Highlands you will know that pre nerf the Ore spawn rate was immense.

If you miss those days of ore abundance then this tip is for you. In Southern Twilight Highlands theres a cave where these memories are no longer pipedreams, slip through the Time Tunnel into this ore abundant world.

Ore Crusher Addon

This has been posted on MMO but I've been trying this addon out the last few days as I am not a spreadsheet geek. Its quite cool.

Check it out guys if you like all your WoW stuff on when playing WoW. All info is dependant on your auctioneer/auctionator addons scan so theres no manual input required and therefore streamlining ore decisions.

Smelter's Tip

A quick tip for smelters today. If you read some of my previous posts you will know that in certain professions you can craft base trade materials into something else to and flip them. An example of this is Quick gold from Frostweave Cloth .

Smelter's are not any different. As always "On My Server" this flip is still viable most of the time with weekends normally being the exception.

Todays flip concerns Hardened Elementium Bars the base materials required for this are:
1 x Hardened Elementium Bar costs anywhere from 180 - 200g on weekdays whereas the materials cost is:
Total cost of raw materials being around the 124g - 130g mark. If you get lucky with the Ores and Earths you could get them for alot cheaper.

Hardened Elementium Bars are very good sellers and are still in high demand due to Blacksmithing Epics items requiring them. The demand may rise once the BoE craftable epics recieve a gem slot making them slighty better and also BiS for alot of pre raid/hc raid classes.

My Gold/WoW Set Up

I must confess, since I farmed ores and herbs on day one and two of Cataclysm I havent done any farming at all. As most gold makers would tell you, you time is better invested elsewhere. This is true but if you are like me, an altoholic, then farming whilst levelling is a good way to gain extra XP whilst questing. I have recently finished my 5th level 85 and most of the time I level with two gathering professions to maximize my versatility. Theses trade goods can them be sent to whichever one of my other characters needs it.

"JMTC" How would you make gold if you had limited play time?

Markco isn't retiring hes just moving upstairs :D

This is my post for JMTC's WoW Gold Blogging Carnival the theme for this month is advice you would give people who have limited gold making time.

This is a category I personally fall into and I suspect so do many Gold Bloggers. We dont sit all day on the PC or on Remote AH camping the Auction House. Some of us have to work for a living :( If your playtime is limited through real life and when you do play you raid, level or do something else that is fun for you then maybe you need a helping hand making gold with the least amount of input possible.

Auction House Junkies or just junk.....

Extreme title I know, sorry Cold and Wes but it got you all to look didn't it. Personally I really like the podcast and I dont think I'm alone. Once the guys get into it we will start to see more diversity which is great to look forward to.

Double up gold from Heavy Savage Armor Kits

I kind of stumbled upon this as I was levelling my Leatherworking, as always check your server prices. The cost of Savage Leather is hovering at 4g50s per leather. Heavy Savage Leather is around 32g per item. Heavy Savage Armor Kit on the otherhand sell for 160 - 200g each.

Maths bit......

Savage Leather x 5 @4g50s  =  22.5g per Heavy Savage Leather
4 x Heavy Savage Leather  =  ca. 90g per Heavy Savage Armor Kit

Heavy Savage Armor Kit = 160 - 200g

These are supposedly pre Greater Mastery on a par with Mastery for tanks so a few will sell that way and maybe some people just have a stamina fetish that needs feeeding like in WotLK........ I am not a PVP'er so I am not sure how they stack up for BG's and arena's.

Check out your servers prices and market, maybe something in there for you.

Check out my earlier post Quick gold from Frostweave Cloth if you missed it.

Quick gold from Frostweave Cloth

On my server Frostweave Cloth is relatively cheap, under 1g per cloth. Bolts of Frostweave on the otherhand are going for at least 10g each. This represents double the price of the cost of Frostweave Cloth.

A great farming spot for this is in Icecrown, Valley of the Fallen Heroes:

It has a very good spawn rate and people has claimed to get over 10 stacks per hour with Northern Cloth Scavenging. Figure in the greens, silver and vendor trash and it is still a worthwhile place to farm the cloth. In my post Dont forget your bags or more specifically bag!! I demonstrated Frostweave Cloths worth in the common market and if you farm the cloth as oppose to buying it you also have other options open to you the most likely being:

Im a also quite certain that solo farming WotLK Dungeons at level 85 would also bring in a nice haul on gold, cloth, greens and vendor trash/items. This is something I will check out over the next few days and report back on.

No-one can tell you how to earn your gold, some people like to farm, some like to camp the auction house and some like to do it all (or try to). Try not to forget, it is a game and you should be having fun doing whatever it is you are doing. If the fun factor is gone and its starting to feel like a chore then maybe take a break or check out another game for a change of scenery.

Thanks for reading guys,

Smudger

Making Gold through pet farming

As most pet collectors know there is only one source of reliable pet information and thats at warcraftpets.com, Breanni keeps the site up to date for all avid pet collectors. I myself was an avid collector amassing 111 pets until I stopped near the end of wrath.

Mageshadow posted on new drop zones for the new whelps before Cataclysm was released but I cant seem to find the post anywhere.

Im going to concentrate on the 4 whelps that drop from various zones around Azeroth:

Is flipping still viable?!

We have had more new players entering the game since "The Shattering" and the start of Cataclysm. Some of those players do not yet really understanding the mechanics of gold making and selling on the Auction House. People selling world drops for cheap on the Auciton House has led me to pick up a few hot gold makers.

I am going to put a few images up, the quality isn't too good as I didn't have much time today to edit the pictures. A green box is what the current going rate is or what I have sold them for and a red box is what I purchased the item(s) for or what todays minimum buyout is.

Easy 12000g profit from a cute and cuddly

Hyacinth Macaw used to be big business and gold for anyone lucky enough to have and to sell one. Nowadays they are a zone drop and are more abundant around the Auction House. The drop rate is still muted to be very low at roughly a 1-5000 rate but more are seen on the Auction House.

Poll results and a few questions?

Ouch,

Blizzard pay attention we have quitters in the house, 23% of disappointed people who voted said they would quit WoW after only the first 6 weeks of Cataclysm. However, I would be interested to see how the figures for WoW really weigh up. Supposedly 12 million subscribers worldwide but I doubt that is the real story.

Trading down to a snails pace??!!

Very slow time on the gold making front at the moment. The AH trading seems to have slowed to a snails pace, trade chat is dead and more worryingly so are my sales. I posted a few quick mysales pictures so you can see what I have sold the most of over the last 2 weeks or so. Picking out a few:

DMC: Volcano's sneaky changes, value going up maybe??!!

This is an interesting change and could make alot of casters sit up and pay attention. I am not quite sure how mastery stacks with most casters. I know mastery isn't the best stat for my Destruction Warlock but with the trinket now proccing from DoT's it could become alot more interesting. The mastery stat can always be reforged to haste/crit if you need to.

I believe it may be pre-Hc Raid BiS for alot of caster speccs, Moonkin, Demonology and Affliction Warlocks for example.

We may see a rise in price aswell, so hold you cards close to your chest so to speak and don't go giving it away on the cheap.

The Darkmoon Faire rolls into Shattrath in two weeks time for the second time since the expansion was released. These cards will still be in demand....... for the next 6 weeks at least.

Follow my Inscription and the 30k gamble project which I will be updating in the next couple of days.

Dont forget your bags or more specifically bag!!

Netherweave Bags are down to nothing, Embersilk Bags are too expensive and selling for less than material cost but one little baby who keeps pumping out is the:

Whats not to love about this bad boy, one of the few 22 slot bags and has very affordable materials, one of which you may have stockpiled somewhere.......Frozen Orbs.

Base materials for the Abyssal Bag are:

Frozo will be a nice fellow and trade you your Frozen Orbs for the Eternals. If you don't possess any Eternals then check the AH for both Eternals and Frozen Orbs. The total materials would cost 144g on my server if you bought them from the AH at current prices.

Dont forget your Frosty Flying Carpet if your character is a new Tailor.

The other mats can be picked up quite cheap from the AH, the Abyssal Bag is holding its value well into Cataclysm. Check it out.

Its quite easy to forget about the Wrath items that still sell with all the hooha surrounding Cataclysm items.

If your market seems to taking a dip or you fancy a change of scenery, give a few of these a whirl.

        Heirloom Vendor now in Org

From the PTR. I personally havent seen this lady??!! before in Orgrimmar. She stands next to the current Justice and Valor point vendors on the left with the incoming Justice Trader on the opposite side.

This means hopefully that more BoA item scrolls will be sold as the Heirlooms are more accessible now.

        Helping Hands

We all use different methods to make gold so when little things come along to help its pretty nice.

I personally have been using 3 speadsheets to help my Alchemy, JC, Enchanting and DMC market.

I recommend checking out the following sites and spreadsheets:
I am currently using the WoW Confidential one for my Inscription and the 30k gamble project and used the Alchemy spreadsheet from Wowstability to help with my Writers Block and Flask Master post. The Consortium one came too late to affect my Elementium Ore and my 24* hour Project but I have used it since and its really helpful.

Having more info at hand is always important and the guys who spend time creating these spreadsheets have mine(no pun intended) and the gold making community's gratitude.

Spreadsheet creater's around the globe, we salute you!!!!

          Leatherworkers Gold Making Tip

I was levelling my Leatherworker the other day and had to make a few Darkbrand Leggings. I posted these on the Auction House and inside an hour there were sold. I tried a few more same again.

The bare materials required for Darkbrand Leggings are:
This is not an item that will make you millions but if you have alot of Volatile Earths from mining or it is fairly cheap on the AH plus you use the Tol Barad Crocs, Crikey!!!! for the leathers you could at least double your investment.

The prices should range between 350g - 900g depending on which random enchant is made. Click here for a list.

These are very good legs and can be used well into heroic dungeons. A great way to make a few gold off people starting alts or people levelling up.

If you read my blog often you will know that i'm always partial to a gamble/experiment. My next one is a biggy, Darkmoon Cards!! Seeing although its 3 weeks til the next faire hits I decided to see how many decks I could get together.

          Trade your JP and HP

          Morning guys,

I have a bigger post coming later on but I wanted to get something up about the change incoming.

          Items
          • The Honor Commodities and Justice Commodities Vendors now sell raw tradeskill materials. These are not intended to be a cost-effective source of these materials, but an option for players with lots of Justice or Honor Points who have already purchased all of the gear that interests them.

          Flask Master AH results

If you saw my post from yesterday Writers Block and Flask Master then you will know how expensive it has become to make flasks since Cataclysm hit. This said the flasks are selling really quick.

I logged in last night and picked up my mail on my Alchemist from which I did the test yesterday and all flasks had sold. Admittedly this is Wednesday night, probably THE main raiding night of the week.

I like to post my own material so when writer's block hits it makes it harder and trying to post things that haven't already been mentioned is nigh on impossible. I really do not want to get into the habit of  re-posting other peoples posts... linking yes, re-posting no.

          Spreading myself too thin

I recieved a comment from Taze yesterday which kind of got me thinking.

If you buy tons of ore on the regular, I would consider moving as much inventory as possible. Therefore, making sure you have 2 of each cut you have and begin selling raw and cut of meta and blue gems.

Some people say that certain gems sell more so they only make those gems, when in fact, they are limiting their market. As long as ore is available, you can push as many products out as much as possible, increasing your income opportunity.

          Thanks for the post. /cheers

Go PvP to earn gold from JC

Dont forget guys, this is my server that normally has around 45k auctions up at any one time. If we are being honest the bottom has already fallen out of the normal Rare Gem Jewelcrafting market. Inferno Ruby's are the only ones holding their own but still only hovering around 120g each for Bold and Brilliant cuts.

The PvP gems on the otherhand are mostly worth more than their PvE counterparts. The following screenies show the current gem prices on my server.

          Poll Results

Last week I asked "What is the most expensive Profession to level?".

          Here are the results:

          Alchemy                  0%
          Blacksmithing          16%
          Enchanting              35%
          Engineering             19%
          Inscription                3%
          Jewelcrafting            10%
          Leatherworking          5%
          Tailoring                  10%

Elementium Ore and my 24* hour Project

It was a slow evening on Friday so I thought I'd give my self something to do. At around 7pm I bought up 25 stacks of Elementium Ore to prospect. The stacks cost me 85g each so that was 2,125g invested in the ores. My plan to was to experiment and see how much I could make out of these 25 stacks upto 0:01 on Sunday. Not exactly 24 Hours but with sleeping inbetween I thought I would cut myself some slack.

          Saronite Bars rise in price!

If you stocked Saronite Ore like I did then it seems on most servers Saronite Bar prices are on the way up.

I am way too impatient to sit on my stock for a year or so so ive been steadily selling the bars off if the price is around 3 x what I paid for the ore.

I hope you guys had this in your snatch list pre Cataclysm for less than the vendor value of 1g25s per Saronite Bar or 62s50c per Saronite Ore. I bought some but had to level mining on an alt so I ended up with a shed load of these things aswell.

          Gold Making Addons Final Part!!

First off for today I would like to thank Just My Two Copper and Mageshadow for the post Up-and-coming Cataclysm Gold Blogs. I was one of the many superb Blogs featured and I think I speak for all of us Bloggers when I say its a nice feeling to know that people are reading our Blogs and taking away a bit of useful information. So, on with the show.

          Addon Required:

So it looks like the results are in. And the winner is:

          Gold Making Addons Part 1

I know there are lots of guides about Auction House addons but we have had an influx of new and returning players since Cataclysm's release and Xmas renewels so I think this guide may come in handy for a few people that are new to the gold making wagon.

If you want to earn a bit more then you need to be prepared. That means using the correct addons to save time/make things easier.

          Inscription Booming Again!!

After the "Glyphmas" event I kind of went into hiding as a main glyph supplier on our server. I made most of my Wrath gold through selling Glyphs and an array of Darkmoon Cards.

My Cataclysm Gold was made through a mixture of farming and crafting. I focused mainly on Jewelcrafting, being one of the first to have a few of the more obscure meta and rare gem cuts. I digress so back to the topic of Glyphs booming again.

          World of Single Player Craft

Im not sure when this happened but people seem reluctant to group up for anything anymore.

Tol Barad is a prime example although it makes it easier and alot quicker if people group up and mash their way through together. I spend most of my time asking if anyone would like to group for quests like Problin or Shark Tank and then end up hanging about for a while. It could be the time of year though, kids of school, lots of new players etc but still, it is a MMO and not a single player game which alot of people have forgotten.
